Complex Declarations: What if Everything Were Decided Even Before We Make a Declaration?
An entrepreneur often has only one desire: to start a business. Over time, his sources of income have multiplied:
- Wages or similar payments
- Dividends
- Rental Income from Unfurnished or Furnished Properties
- Capital gain on sale
- Interest on Investments
- Split Real Estate
Its expenses as well:
- Property Maintenance and Other Rental Expenses
- Investing in other companies as a business angel
- Personal Services and Child Care
The result? Reporting your income is becoming much more than just an administrative formality.
It’s not just about “filling in boxes.” This is a strategic exercise.
The key word is foresight. To anticipate is to :
- Take advantage of the right measures to reduce your tax burden on income and expenses
Be able to choose the category of income—from employment or investments—based on the tax implications for businesses versus individuals. - Manage rental income wisely to choose the best tax plan.
- Establish specific mechanisms, such as those governing contributions and transfers (including annual reporting of capital gains and carryovers)
- Avoid reporting errors, which can be costly in the event of a tax audit
The real issue? Start thinking as early as year N-1 about the most appropriate compensation structure for year N.
- Because the choice between dividends and compensation, renting out a furnished or unfurnished property, selling, or making a capital contribution must be made in advance—not at the time of filing. Because the choice of expense category may also depend on whether those expenses are deductible.
Waiting until year N often means suffering the consequences.
